BARNET BOYS U10/U11 .v. MIDDLESEX GIRLS U11
SATURDAY 28 APRIL 2007
VENUE: BARNET CC
22 OVERS
MIDDLESEX WON BY 1 RUN
Middlesex girls U11s began the season with a victory against Barnet Boys
U10/U11s off the final ball.
Barnet won the toss and put Middlesex in to bat. Our batting was a little
disappointing with no individual scoring more than 4 runs in the innings, however the total was bolstered by extras as Barnet
gave away 58 runs in wides and no balls and we
finished on 84 for 7 in our 22 overs.
(13 players used)
If our batting let us down a little, our bowling more than made up for it
and exceeded all expectations, and we only bowled 4 no balls and 6 wides in total. It all came down to the final over with
Barnet needing 5 to pass our total. Thanks to a very accurate last over from Karishma Patel, we managed to keep it down to 3 off the
over and achieved a well deserved victory by 1 run.

MIDDLESEX WON BY 28 RUNS
A superb batting display ensured our first county win of the season against
a useful Sussex side. Batting first, Flo and Kirsten
got the innings off to a flying start with a partnership of 23 off 5 overs. Both then retired with Ella and Dasiy
continuing to keep the scoreboard moving with excellent running and calling and
by 10 overs we'd reached 44-1. As the innings
progressed just about every player chipped in with runs but the star batters on
the day were Flo with 27 not out (retiring twice) and
Georgia with 21 not out including three boundaries smashed in a row!
We finished on a very good total of 167 for 6.
Our bowling performance in general was not as strong as the previous day
against Barnet Boys. We gave away 13 no balls and 22 wides
and on another day this might have been costly, however as it turned out we'd
managed to score a large enough total to achieve victory and Sussex fell 28
runs short of our score, finishing on 139 for 5. Notable
bowling performances from Gurpreet (3-0-9-2), Ella
(3-2-3-0) and Daisy (4-1-8-0). Also very good fielding all round, especially from
Our player of the match - Georgia Jackson.

SATURDAY 5TH MAY 2007
VENUE : REGENTS PARK

WARWICKSHIRE WON BY 53 RUNS
We suffered our first defeat of the season at home to Warwickshire, mainly
due to wayward bowling on our part, and excellent accurate bowling from our
opponents. We even managed to score more runs off the bat with 52 compared to
Warwickshire's 50, but eventually lost by 53 runs as we gave away a massive 92
in extras (mainly no balls and wides) compared to a
measly 37 from Warwickshire. More bowling practice required I think!!
Warwickshire batted first and amassed 142-7. Our reply was a disappointing
89 all out. Congratulations to warwickshire on a well
deserved victory.

MIDDLESEX WON BY 1 WICKET
This was a thrilling victory over our near neighbours, as all those present
I'm sure would agree. Any fingernails left anyone??
Middlesex nervously set about chasing down the target losing two early
wickets to be in trouble at 4 for 2. However this brought Daisy and Ella
together at the crease and these two batted together for five overs before being retired ... they were to come back in to
bat again later in a crucial stand!
In came Sophie Abbott to keep the scoreboard moving but wickets continued
to tumble at the other end and soon it was looking gloomy for us at 52 for 6
after 20 overs. It was at this point that Daisy came
back in to resume her innings, soon joined by Ella. Together they moved the
score along to 77 and then Ella was bowled for 13, replaced by Sophie Abbott
who carried on supporting Daisy in our struggle to reach
As tension grew Middlesex drew level on 86 . Daisy

Amy, our last batter walked out to try to hit the winning run with one ball
of the penultimate over remaining but couldn't score. One
over left, with Sophie Abbott facing. Agonisingly Sophie was unable to
get the first five balls of the over away. One ball left!
As the crowd held their breath the last ball was delivered, Sophie mananged to get her bat to it, the Middlesex contingent
screamed "RUN!!", and our girls scampered home for the winning
single. Minor celebrations ensued, as well as very good sportsmanship from both
sides. We certainly knew that we'd had to fight hard for this win, which was
achieved by our tremendous running and calling between the wickets, fierce
determination and the ability to play together well as a team. It must be
acknowledged that the Surrey team contained some strong cricketers, and
All in all I was very proud of our team spirit and will to win. Well done
everyone!
