Essex batting display outstanding
Middlesex won the toss and elected to bat.
Middlesex struggled with a strong wind and a severe slope which the Essex bowlers used to
good effect. When their turn came some exceptional batting by the Essex players was only
partially contained by some very good Middlesex bowling.
